Quartzite steps are quarried in the Rocky Mountains in Idaho. They range from silver to gold in color with mica flecks. Unlike the treads, these steps are not cut or snapped, they are natural sizes and shapes that work well for steps. They lend a more natural look to your stairway than the regular-shaped treads. However, installation is more time-consuming as they are different shapes and thicknesses.
