1/4" Minus Crushed Basalt is a very fine crushed basalt rock which makes it a popular choice for garden paths and dog runs. The fines from the crushing process will help it to pack so it will be easy to push wheelbarrows over and since the pieces are small you can kneel on it when working in the yard. If the path leads up to your door, keep in mind that the basalt when wet can have a bit of a tendency to track in on shoes. If the path goes right up to your house, you may want to look at using an aggregate rock instead.
It is also small enough that it can pack in the gaps between flagstones on your patio or pathway and the dark color can be a nice contrast to the lighter colored flagstones.
